CallMiner Employees Give Back at Ronald McDonald House

This time of year is known as being the season of giving. And we at CallMiner are proud to not only participate in charitable giving during the holidays, but all year round. As CallMiner continues to grow, we are committed to also growing our community support through charitable donations and volunteer activities. Whether in our offices’ area, or in their local communities for those who are remote, giving back to our communities is a benefit of the CallMiner culture.  Below are just a few of the stories of charity from 2018.

Movember Up and Down the East Coast

The Movember Foundation is a leading charity focused on changing men’s health. This annual trending event’s goal was to grow a moustache or no-shave, move (run/walk 60 miles), or host an event in the month of November to raise awareness and funds for men’s related health issues including prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health and suicide prevention. The team included Todd Barber, Ryan Boddy, Drew Brumm, Mike DeJesus, Jeff Gallino, Scott Kendrick and Terri Roberts-Willis. The team raised $1,792 and congrats to team lead Scott Kendrick who raised $1,100! Find out more about the team here: https://moteam.co/callminer See Scott’s aftermath of his Movember journey:

Cooking for a Cause

In August, members of the Quality Assurance (QA) Team:  Mike DeJesus, Denise Fortune, Mike Fuller, Robin Gibbons and Manjusha Sridharan planned and cooked dinner for the guests at the Ronald McDonald House of Southwest Florida. The Ronald McDonald House is a “home-away-from-home” for families of seriously ill or injured children, receiving medical treatment at Golisano Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida or other local medical facilities.

Eva’s Closet Toy Drive

The Fort Myers’ office participated for their 3rd year in a toy drive and giving tree for Eva’s Closet & Foundation. This year they supported 80 local kids with gifts from the holidays. Eva’s Closet & Foundation serves families in need across Southwest Florida through case management services and providing basic necessities, and focuses on providing services with grace, honor, and respect.

The gifts will go to children ranging in age from infant to 16 years old and include necessities like car seats, toiletries, and clothing, as well as entertainment requests such as crafts, toys, and gift cards.  “We are so honored and lucky to have the continual support and generosity of CallMiner to aid our Eva’s children during the holiday season. Thank you for helping to brighten a difficult time of year for our local children in need,” said Jessica Goodall, founder of Eva’s Closet & Foundation.

Thank you to Drew Brumm, Senior Director of Platform Engineering, for being the office lead on the programs with Eva’s Closet.

Taking Time Out For Kids at LISTEN

For the past two years during our annual user conference event LISTEN, employees, customers and partners have volunteered in filling school supplies for those living at RCS Pinellas. They are an organization that assist more than 5,000 people in Pinellas County, Florida by providing basic needs of food, shelter, safety, and clothing. Dozens of LISTEN attendees filled hundreds of bags for those living at RCS locations.  Thank you to Marketing Manager Barb Chandler for organizing the activity and Customer Service Directors Tiffany Leonard and Jenn Buffaloe for being onsite leads.

Helping Others Keep Warm This Winter

The CallMiner Waltham office participated in a coat drive this December as part of One Warm Coat. Coats are distributed in the communities where they were collected, to children and adults in need, without charge, discrimination or obligation. All donations will be given to a local nonprofit A Place to Turn who is located in Natick, Massachusetts. The office collected a half a dozen coats and $50 to go towards the purchase of additional coats. Thank you to Terri Roberts-Willis for helping organize the drive.

Cosplay for a Cause

Jason McKay, Eureka Evangelist Lead serves as President of the East Texas Chapter of Heroic Inner Kids. Their mission is simply to encourage the “inner hero” in those with challenges. They work with children who are at-risk, medically-challenged, or economically-disadvantaged, but support all children via education, outreach, advocacy, and fundraising.

You can find them setting up kid-friendly spaces at comic-cons, or dressed as princesses visiting hospitalized children. Heroic Inner Kids is there. They come from all walks of life and put their skills as cosplayers, handlers, crafters, sewers, builders, organizers, and friendly faces to work.

Building Homes for Those In Need

Sales Director Todd Barber is the Co-Chair Local Projects Committee for the Habitat for Humanity, MetroWest and Greater Worcester in Massachusetts. Habitat for Humanity MetroWest/Greater Worcester works to create simple, decent, affordable housing for low-earning families. In accordance with our motto “A hand up, not a handout,” they are dedicated to building houses with families, not for them. The life-changing work helps families become stakeholders in their own communities and strengthen the communities they live, work, and play. Over the year’s Todd has helped raise$450,000 to build two homes for deserving families in Holliston, MA. The first home dedicated in November 2017, second home dedicated November 2018.

Please note: All fund-raising and charitable events are not mandated for employees to participate.
